You might have heard that Speed Queen has a new design out, and you’re correct! In 2018, the Department of Energy mandated that all washing machines must be energy efficient. Speed Queen created the TR3000, TR5000 and TR7000 models to accommodate the new Government regulations, BOO! At Sargents, we weren’t a huge fan of the design and actually decided to not sell the new TR models. We stayed up to date on the issues that were coming out with the new model, and most importantly, the wash quality. Our biggest concern with the new TR models is that the agitation was not going to be sufficient enough to “scrub” soiled clothes clean. The TR models predecessor’s, AWN and AWNE models from pre 2018 had a proven track record of good quality agitation, and long lasting reliability. With this new TR model, we just never felt confident with it. Fast forward to 2019, Speed Queen got their engineering team together and created the new TC5000 “classic” model. This model is an almost exact replica of the “good old” design, AWN and AWNE. The only real changes, and ones made to make the Department of Energy happy, was to add an “eco” cycle that auto senses the water level, and only allow for 2 other water levels, of which one is “deep fill”. We couldn’t be happier, and can’t wait for you to try them out yourselves.
